Abstract: This paper analyzes communicability trends of disease terms developed in Mozambican languages based on terminology development strategies. Methodologically, a corpus consisting of 166 terms associated with 12 diseases developed in 6 Mozambican languages was compiled. Based on the terminological dimensions (cognitive, linguistic and communicative) (Sager, 1990), the study found that, communicability hierarchizes the strategies of term development. The study concludes that term development in the Mozambican languages requires that an assessment of communicability levels be considered in order to safeguard communication.
