Abstract: The present study falls within the scope of the curricular revisions underway at the Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM), in particular in the Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Sciences. It aims to evaluate Chemistry at the Faculty of Sciences of the Eduardo Mondlane University. For the operationalization of the objective proposed in this study, the following research question was asked: what is the profile of the graduate that the job market requests from a graduate in chemistry from UEM? The data were obtained from interviews with employers, questionnaires to finalist students, visits to the Chemistry Department and through documentary analysis. • The finalist students wanted to know which teaching methodologies are frequently used by teachers, and also the conditions under which the teaching and learning process takes place. Therefore, the questionnaire was used to collect information in terms of the conditions in which the classes take place, taking into account procedures leading to theoretical knowledge combined with know-how. • From employers, it was intended to verify that the curriculum meets the requirements of the labor market. The interview focused mainly on issues related to the profile of the graduate in Chemistry that preachers would like to receive in their institutions and also the degree of satisfaction of these, in relation to the graduates in Chemistry that are being delivered to the job market. • To assess the sensitivities and opinions collected from the finalist students, visits were made to the Department. • Document analyzes were designed to verify what the program's assumptions are and what the current results are. The data obtained, from these data collection instruments, were analyzed and allowed to obtain the following results: the department has a very small number of computers (seven), for a very high universe of students (237), which causes that at the end of the course students are not yet able to write papers using a computer. The laboratories are not properly equipped, there is a lack of reagents necessary to conduct laboratory classes, this fact contributes negatively to the development of the ability to combine theory with practice. Regarding the practicality of the course, students consider it to be moderate, which contributes little to a competency-based teaching. Regarding the question related to the profile of the graduate, satisfying employers' expectations, it was found that they are satisfied with the generic competences and not with the professional ones. Thus, it is concluded that the employers' desire was to receive graduates with mastery of the practical part, however when they reach the job market they still have gaps (TRADUÇÃO NOSSA)
