Abstract:
his dissertation aims to evaluate the level of Quality Management System (QMS)
implementation in the IEP's, taking into account the requirements of ANEP, in a study carried
out at the Medium Institute of São José de Lhanguene (IMSJL) in Maputo. Conducted under a
qualitative, exploratory-descriptive perspective, in the form of a case study, the study
interviewed 8 participants, members of the team responsible for quality assurance at the Institute,
applying a semi-structured interview. Although there are difficulties and challenges arising from
this new IEP's management model, the results showed that in its work, the institute respects and
follows the ANEP's guidelines related to the implementation of the SGQ. The institute showed a
positive attitude of recognizing the importance of better preparation and organization to
efficiently conduct this management process in accordance with the regulator's requirements. In
conclusion, the study verified that despite the difficulties, the institute implements the QMS
as its academic and management processes. On the other hand, it was observed that the institute
follows the 6 interdependent stages comprising the implementation cycle of the system,
(identification of key areas; self-assessment; continuous improvement plan;
implementation/supervision/internal evaluation; external evaluation, and finally, the
accountability). At the moment of the study, the institute was implementing the step 3, related to
the Continuous Improvement Plans, expecting to implement progressively other 3 subsequent
phases.
