Abstract:
This thesis seeks to outline perspectives for reflection and analysis of the construction of
environmental citizenship in Mozambique, based on the work of civil society organizations
(CSOs) in the context of education, with reference to KUWUKA JDA. The problem that guides
this research is the concern with the need to promote educational strategies aimed at environmental
conservation and the contribution that the educational process can represent in the search for
answers to multiple socio-environmental problems. Thus, the following question arises: what has
been the contribution of CSOs in education for environmental citizenship in Mozambique? The
general objective of the research is to analyze the contribution of civil society organizations in
achieving education for environmental citizenship in Mozambique, having the KUWUKA JDA as
a reference institution. The specific objectives are: 1) Discuss the role of civil society organizations
in promoting education for environmental citizenship in the face of contemporary environmental
problems; 2) Describe KUWUKA JDA's educational actions for environmental citizenship in
Mozambique; 3) Examine the educational contribution of KUWUKA JDA's actions in building
environmental citizenship in Mozambique. As for the methodology, the research followed a
qualitative approach, using bibliographic and documental analysis and field research. The research
results lead to the conclusion that the actions carried out by CSOs seek to bring about a significant
change in people's lives, through the exercise of associative organization, political pressure, civic
education, creation of partnerships, conservation of the environment, etc
