| dc.description.abstract | This research aimed to determine the financial value of the Mossurize forest taking into account the benefits generated by its values of direct use (value of commercial species) and indirect use (carbon sequestration). For this, the existing species in the forest were identified, the horizontal structure, the amount of stored carbon, the financial value of stored carbon and commercial species were determined. The horizontal structure of the forest was determined through the parameters of species dominance, abundance, frequency, the importance value index and the diversity indexes of Shannon and Simpson; the amount of carbon was obtained based on the IPCC equation (2003); the financial value of commercial species and carbon was determined using the discounted cash flow method VAL applying a discount rate of 10%. The most dominant species in the forest were Brachystegia spiciformis, Julbernardia globiflora, Diplorhynchus condylocarpon, Brachystegia glaucescens and Millettia stuhlmannii. Of the commercial species existing in the forest, the largest revenue was obtained from Brachystegia spiciformis since it was the one that contributed most in terms of commercial volume in the forest. A value of US $ 23,858,973.89 was obtained for timber products. The forest accumulated a total amount of carbon of 17.8 ton / ha, which corresponded to an NPV of US $ 19,653,270.34 for the entire forest. | dc.description.resumo | A presente pesquisa teve como objectivo determinar o valor financeiro da floresta de Mossurize tendo em conta os benefícios gerados pelos seus valores de uso directo (valor das espécies comerciais) e de uso indirecto (Sequestro de carbono). Para tal Identificou-se as espécies existentes na floresta, determinou-se a estrutura horizontal, a quantidade de carbono armazenada, o valor financeiro do carbono armazenado e das espécies comerciais. A estrutura horizontal da floresta foi determinada através dos parâmetros dominância das espécies, a abundância, a frequência, o índice de valor de importância e os índices de diversidade de Shannon e Simpson; a quantidade do carbono foi obtida com base na equação do IPCC (2003); o valor financeiro das espécies comerciais e do carbono foi determinado pelo método de fluxo de caixa descontado VAL aplicando uma taxa de desconto de 10%. As espécies mais dominantes na floresta foram a Brachystegia spiciformis, a Julbernardia globiflora, a Diplorhynchus condylocarpon, a Brachystegia glaucescens e Millettia stuhlmannii. Das espécies comerciais existentes na floresta a maior receita foi obtida com a Brachystegia spiciformis uma vez que esta foi a que mais contribuiu em termos de volume comercial na floresta. Obteve-se para os produtos madeireiros um VAL de US$23.858.973,89. A floresta acumulou uma quantidade total de carbono de 17,8 ton/ha, o que correspondeu a um VAL de US$19.653.270,34 para toda floresta.
