Abstract:
The production of vegetables, both commercial and for subsistence, plays an important role in the activity of the family agricultural sector, contributing to its strengthening and sustainability. The objective of the study was to evaluate the potential factors for the adoption of agricultural technologies for the production of vegetables. Marracuene district case. An approach is made to the socioeconomic and demographic profile of vegetable producers in the Marracuene district. The study identifies the main determinants of the adoption of agricultural technologies for the production of vegetables and the level of perception of producers in relation to the adoption of agricultural technologies. The work consisted of a bibliographic and field investigation, with a quantitative approach. To obtain the dimension of the sample size, the formula that allowed the determination of the sample size to be statistically significant considering the finite population was applied. 206 vegetable producers were surveyed in the Marracuene district. For data processing, the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) was used, based on a matrix (database) to calculate percentages, average scores and variances, both for the totality of respondents and for groups that were formed according of the population categorizing variables and that were considered more determinant for each analysis. Factorial analysis was applied to identify the main factors that affect the adoption of vegetable technologies. The results show the level of education of producers, the availability of money, the conditions of soil and environment, the age of producers, uncertainty or insecurity and awareness of producers that affect the adoption of production technologies.
