| dc.description.abstract | O abcesso cerebral e uma infecção rara, extremamente agressiva e letal. A mortalidade e morbilidade diminuíram com o advento dos antibióticos. Neste trabalho descrevemos o caso de uma criança de 11 anos que desenvolveu um abcesso cerebral como complicação de otite média crónica. O doente foi submetido a mastoidectomia radical e craniotomia com drenagem do abcesso, tendo o resultado da intervenção sido satisfatório. | en_US |

| dc.description.resumo | Brain abscess is a rare, extremely aggressive and lethal infection. Mortality and morbidity decreased with the advent of antibiotics. In this paper we describe the case of an 11-year-old child who developed a brain abscess as a complication of chronic otitis media.
