Abstract: | This research addresses Defense and Security Policy and Maritime Security in the Mozambique Channel: Security Provider Paradox 1997-2019. Was carried out on the basis of research questions to answer the following central research question, how can the security provider paradox in Mozambique be explained, between Defense and Security Policy and Maritime Security, particularly in the Mozambique Channel? The objective of this research is to understand the security provider paradox between Defense and Security Policy and Maritime Security in the Mozambique Channel. To explain the problem of this research the following theories were mobilized: Weberian, Tillian and realist. This research favored a general approach based on the hypothetical-deductive method and a specific approach based on the case study method. This research is classified as applied, qualitative, explanatory and bibliographical with documentary support. To collect and analyze data for this research, the following techniques were used: direct observation and semi-structured interview and content analysis. In this context, it is concluded that the paradox between Defense and Security Policy and Maritime Security in the Mozambique Channel is a consequence of the primacy of the Mozambican State from Weberian, Tillian and realist perspectives, while its naval power is characterized by several weaknesses, whether material either in terms of adopting naval investment policies for the provision of naval power to match the magnitude of current maritime threats in the Mozambique Channel |
